Prerequisite: COMM 1201 with a minimum grade of C. Not open to Freshmen. Formerly titled News and Media. This course examines the social and cultural impacts of modern news media on the dynamics of democratic politics. An emphasis on the differences between news and propaganda; information and opinion; bias and fairness, will facilitate the critical analysis of political media messages, helping students to become more critical consumers of news media and more effective participants in the democratic process.
