SOWK 5532 - SUICIDE ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION
This course introduces students to the field of suicidology. It is designed to expand the social worker’s knowledge, skills and values about working with suicidal clients. Students examine historical and contemporary perspectives on suicide as well as major theories on suicide. This course will review evidence-based suicide assessment and intervention practices with a specific emphasis on the NASW ethics, self-awareness and self-care. Students will also gain an understanding of state and national suicide prevention programs and strategies. Faculty: L. MOONEY
