Information You can use any combination of selection options to narrow your search for courses. You must choose at least one subject. PHIL 3120 - MUSIC AND PHILOSOPHY
Prerequisite: Not open to freshmen. A previous course in Philosophy and/or Music recommended. Crosslisted with MUSC 3120. Arts (A) course. This course joins the queen of the arts (music) with the queen of the sciences (philosophy) in an exploration of foundational concepts in a philosophical investigation of music. We will focus on Classical/Romantic music (1750-1900) and Modern and New music (1900-present). We will read, listen, and view examples of how music and philosophy reveal human and cosmic temporality.
