This tutorial in sociology explores the intersection of race, poverty and education in urban environments nationally and locally. The academic component will examine current issues and theories pertaining to educating impoverished, minority populations. The service learning component will require tutoring in an after school program for elementary school children in an arts-integrated literacy program.
